Dr. Eric Reynolds is a board-certified physician of sports medicine. He grew up in Coralville before attending the University of Iowa for both his undergraduate and medical degrees (forever a die-hard fan - go Hawks!) He met his wife, Lauren, in medical school, and they both went to Albuquerque following graduation to complete residencies at the University of New Mexico.
After 4 years in Albuquerque (an extra year spent as Chief Resident), he moved to Cleveland where he completed his sports medicine fellowship at University Hospitals/Rainbow Babies and Children's. There, he treated patients and athletes of all ages while working with local high schools, Kent State University, and the Cleveland Browns.
Dr. Reynolds moved back to Iowa in 2019. That fall, he started working for MercyOne, where he ran the sports medicine practice while also being the medical director of the pediatric urgent care at MercyOne Clive.
He specializes in musculoskeletal complaints, diagnostic ultrasound, and concussion management with associated return-to-play decisions. He has expertise in diagnosing and managing many common musculoskeletal injuries for patients of all ages such as acute muscle or ligament injury, non-surgical fractures, osteoarthritis —including ultrasound guided injections of any joint, stress fractures, exercise associated syncope and dyspnea, and pediatric overuse injuries.
Dr. Reynolds joined the Capital team in March 2023 and works full-time at our Ankeny office (located in The District), where he runs the new Ankeny Orthopaedic Walk-In Clinic (open Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm) while also seeing patients by scheduled appointment.
