Dr. Sorrentino was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Loyola University of Chicago and then received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery in Chicago. Following medical school, he completed his residency in foot surgery at Leyden Community Hospital in Northlake, IL.
Upon the completion of his training, Dr. Sorrentino became an Associate in a busy Chicago podiatry practice before relocating to Georgia with his wife, Denise. While Denise completed her cardiology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, he set up his own practice just outside the city. Following the completion of Denise’s program, they decided to settle in Iowa. Dr. Sorrentino worked as an Assistant Professor in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University for several years. While he enjoyed teaching a great deal, he missed the element of patient contact. He ultimately left the academic setting to once again pursue private practice, joining the McFarland Clinic in Ames. Following his time at McFarland, he took a few years off from podiatry altogether to work as a stay-at-home dad with his 4 young children. In 2004, he opened the Ames Foot Clinic and has been proud to serve the Ames area for over 20 years. Dr. Sorrentino is now very excited about this new opportunity to join Capital Orthopedics.
Dr. Sorrentino’s goal is to get our patients back on their feet and allow them to be as active as they would like to be. This principle applies to everyone, no matter what walk of life. From children, to athletes, to seniors — the objective for his patients is to have mobility and allow them to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle. His philosophy is to work together with his patients so they can together arrive at a treatment plan that best works for them.
Dr. Sorrentino’s many interests outside of podiatry include trying to keep up with the busy lives of his wife and four children, weight lifting, enjoying a fun car ride on a twisty road, attempting to cook something half as good as his mother and grandmother could, and following his beloved Bears, Blackhawks, and White Sox.
